Hariharaputhran, 'Hari' to his friends - is a postgraduate in arts with specialisation in psychology as one of the optional subjects, achieving top honours by securing the first rank in the University of Madras (1960).

He worked for Goodlass Nerolac Paints Ltd., an Indo-Japanese paint company, for three decades and chose to retire as general manager in 1993, eight years ahead of his scheduled retirement. He believes that man should ceaselessly work without any stoppage and hence to beat retirement and superannuation blues, decided to retire early and set up his own enterprise. He is the managing director of Pride Paints and Chemicals Pvt Ltd, Chennai, as also marketing director of Apollo Paints Pvt Ltd, Bangalore, manufacturers of super arocem cement paint.

He also set up Pride Academy for Selling Excellence for training to sharpen the skill of sales and marketing personnel. Widely traveled, he has trained personnel of Vam Organics, Pepsi, ICI, Jenson & Nicholson (India ) Ltd., Latham India Ltd (Facit), Wiltech, Baliga Lighting, Gokul Builders, Solan Minerals (P) Ltd, etc.

He imparted a training session utilising the innovative method of employing the yoga technique and the programme, The yoga way of selling, was received very enthusiastically by MRF sales personnel in Chennai and Delhi.

Hariharaputhran currently serves as consultant - Marketing & Training, for Shalimar Paints Ltd.

He has trained sales personnel of organisations in Sri Lanka, Oman, Dubai, Vietnam and has participated in the Quality Selling Programme of SWEPCO in the US.

Hariharaputhran embraces small companies so as to make big by giving consultancy in sales and marketing - recent examples - Zenith Hardware Industries, Ananthapur and Ravi Synthetics, Chennai, manufacturers of builders hardware and tinker paste materials, respectively.

Realising the importance of the role of shop assistants in providing service of a high order to customers, Asian Paints entrusted Pride Academy with organising training for hundreds of shop assistants of their dealers. The programme was done in Tamil so as to ensure that the message reaches the employees who have not had the privilege of formal education.

Lakshmi Group of Companies, Tiruvannamalai, and V V Balakrishna Nadar & Sons are the two trade outlets who commissioned Pride Academy to let them know the success formula to woo customers.
